Biology Honors:

Vet Assisting Program Overview

The vet assisting program at West Broward High School is a 3-year program that incorporates hands on learning and prepares students for a career in the veterinary industry.  The program in divided into 5 sections.  This unique program equips students with the knowledge that they will be able to apply on the job.

Vet II & III

Vet 2 & 3 are taken concurrently in the second year and focus on small animals.  During these courses, students will learn hands-on in our clinic replica with dogs from our on site doggy daycare. They will learn clinic software, handling and restraint, basic grooming, medical history reporting, more advanced anatomy, disease pathology and basic pharmacology.  Students will learn common lab procedures that are carried out routinely in small animal vet hospitals, as well as surgical set up and monitoring using actual clinic equipment.
